2012 Olympics Location

5 cities have entered the list of cities that will be chosen by the IOC to hold the 2012 Olympics. These five cities are London, United Kingdom; Paris, France; Madrid, Spain; New York, United States; and Moscow, Russia. In the election on July 6, 2005 at the Raffles City Convention Center, Singapore, London was chosen to hold the Olympics in 2012 defeating his rival across the English Channel that is Paris which was initially a favorite the winner.

The deadline to submit the desire to hold the 2012 Olympics July 15, 2003 and on January 15, 2004, 50 pages thick questionnaire should also be submitted to the IOC. The Committee then gave a score view of the financial ability, security, facilities, experience, and some other aspects. Evaluation of the potential for the city was held May 18, 2004. These cities with the score is

* Paris, France - 8.5
* Madrid, Spain - 8.3
* London, United Kingdom - 7.6
* New York, United States - 7.5
* Moscow, Russia - 6.5
* Leipzig, Germany - 6.0
* Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - 5.1
* Istanbul, Turkey - 4.8
* Havana, Cuba - 3.6

All five cities with the highest score can go to the next round and use the Olympic Flame and the ring in his campaign materials. (wikipedia)
