3 Facebook Settings You Should Secure

Last December 2009 Facebook could make a change privacy rules that invite users controversy. Networking site that had more closed now wants to compete with other sites more open, like Twitter. December 2009 and if you really pay attention and maintain your personal settings when the recommendations come up for Facebook settings, then maybe you are safe. But if you just choose the recommended settings of Facebook, then you'll want to see again any information that people can see with this arrangement.

The first way point the mouse over the Settings menu / Settings in the upper right, it would appear the list, then click the Privacy Settings / Privacy Settings from the list. Then try to check the following three things that appear in the settings.

1. Who can see things that you mentioned (status, photos, videos, and more)

On the menu, first item is the Profile Information / Profile Information, click on that part. On the next page, look for Posts by Me / additions from My. This section controls all the status updates, links, records / notes, photos, and video.

If you are only in December and then follow the default settings suggestions Facebook, then all that information can be accessed by all applications and other Facebook users.

A good idea to change the setting to Only Friends / Only Friends than the All People / Everyone, that is really just the people that you have agreed to be friends who can see the development of your profile.

Remember that the setting 'All People' really means all those who use the internet can find that information. While the setting of Friends of Friends / Friends of Friends rather more convincing, but if the number of friends you enough information so you can be available to thousands of people who you do not know.

2. Personal Data

Still on the Profile Information section, view the items to the third, fourth, and five, namely: birthday / date of birth, religious and political views / beliefs and political views and family and relationships / families and relationships. The third is sensitive data, particularly date of birth, because these data are often the data for identity verification (example: for some banking services over the phone).

If you are using Facebook the standard of December last, the third of this data can be seen all the people. A good idea to also turn this into Just Friends / Friends Only for the same reason as before.

3. Is Google can see data on Facebook?

Return to page Privacy Settings / Privacy Settings, click Search / Search, the fourth item. It Facebook has issued a statement that Facebook does not pass the information to Google, and that those who seek a Facebook user in Google will only be directed to a page that the user profile, and only disclosed basic information only. This is true but you should also see the basic information that appears is whatever.

The second item on this page, Public Search Result / General Search Results, has the right of the checkbox labeled "Allow / Allow". A good idea to uncheck the box. If you want to compare the results then try click on the link "Show preview / See preview" at the end of the explanation about the two items were. Links that may indicate what kind of profile views that appear to the person who is not your friend on Facebook but found your profile pages through Google's search feature. Can you compare the difference between this view when the Allow box was checked or not.

These three settings above can be mastered in five minutes. Do not wait until there is new bad things about you secure your information.
